SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR NORTHEASTERN HENDRY COUNTY

SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR NORTHEASTERN HENDRY...WEST CENTRAL PALM BEACH AND SOUTH CENTRAL GLADES COUNTIES UNTIL 2:15 PM EST... * At 1:19 PM EST, National Weather Service meteorologists were tracking a gusty shower 11 miles northwest of Big Cypress Seminole Reservation, or 13 miles south of Montura, moving north at 30 mph. * Winds in excess of 45 mph and funnel clouds possible with this shower. * Locations impacted include... Clewiston, Moore Haven, Montura, Lake Harbor, Devils Garden, Harlem and Lake Hicpochee. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... These winds can down small tree limbs and branches, and blow around unsecured small objects. Seek shelter in a safe building until the storm passes. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this shower, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Funnel clouds occasionally touch down and produce tornadoes or waterspouts. Move indoors and stay away from windows. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency

This is an important message from #PrepareHendry, the Hendry County Government Mass Notification System.

A Tropical Storm Warning and a Flood Watch remains in effect for all of Hendry County, including Lake Okeechobee. Over the next 24 hours we expect to see 30 to 40 mile per hour winds gusting up to 70 miles per hour at times. Rainfall amounts from 5 to 10 inches may be possible. Consider protective actions if you are in an area vulnerable to flooding. Tune into the National Weather Service, Weather Channel or your local news for further updates. Stay alert and stay safe.

Tropical Storm Eta Sand Bag Locations in Hendry County

WHAT: In preparation for possible impacts from tropical storm Eta, sandbags are now available for public pickup. Residents will need to bring their own shovel and will be responsible for loading their own sandbags into their vehicles. Residents are asked to be courteous to their fellow Hendry County residents and limit themselves to 25 sandbags. Please only take what your family needs.

Locations may run out of bags, residents are encouraged to please bring their own if possible to fill with sand.
